אתמול בלילה היה לי קר. כפות הידיים הפכו סגלגלות והדם הפיץ את הקור בכל הגוף, מגיע ללב ומנסה לגרום לו לנדום. עוויתות ורעידות אחזו בי, התפתלתי מכאבים במיטה שלי כאחוז דיבוק, שדים שנכנסים ויוצאים ללא הרף, גבי התקמר לקשת מרוב כאב, הידיים נקשרו לקשרים, הציפורניים התחפרו בבשר, ניסו להחזיק אותי בעולם הזה בהרגשת הכאב הרגיל, המוחשי. חלחלה ורעד, חלחלה ורעד, הוא הולך לעצור, אני עם רגל אחת כבר שם, הקבר קורא לי, הייתי מוכן לעזוב. לטובה או לא, לא יודע, הוא החזיק אותי פה, כמו תמיד עזר לי והשקיט את נפשי. טיפשים אלה שקוראים לו רוצח ומשוגע. בשבילי הוא מלאך שומר שמחזיק אותי בחיים ובשפיות.

Araka
The mysterious "pit of Ilvir" is reputed to be the home of Hârn's most bizarre inhabitant, the deity Ilvir. The fetid pool is said to be the breeding ground of the Ivashu, the god's strange creatures, and it is the final destination for many Ilviran pilgrims. This article includes two color maps, one of the pit itself and the other of a nearby Ilviran temple complex. Interior plans of the temple, and extensive maps of the caverns beneath Araka-Kalai are also included. Once, monks, there was a teacher named Araka, a sectarian leader who was free of passion for sensual pleasures. He had many hundreds of students and he taught them the Dhamma in this way: 'Next to nothing, brahmans, is the life of human beings limited, trifling, of much stress & many despairs. One should touch this [truth] like a sage, do what is skillful, follow the holy life. For one who is born there is no freedom from death.
The Bodhisatta, born as a brahmin teacher. His story is told in the Araka Játaka. He is referred to also in the Dhamnaddhaja Játaka (J.ii.195), where the Bodhisatta relates how, as Araka, he had developed thoughts of loving-kindness and practised the brahmavihárá for seven years and then was born in the Brahma-world.
His name appears again in the Anguttara Nikáya (A.iv.136-8) in a list of teachers, and we are told that among Araka's pupils those who followed his teachings were born in the Brahma-world, while the others were born in various purgatories. In the Anguttara context no special mention is made of his having taught the brahma-viháras.
