Tel Aviv University is conducting a poetry reading evening under the theme of freedom.
Here's what I wrote:
Where
is your freedom
Is
on the social network?
A
net of lies, mosquito trap of summertime
Where
is your freedom
On
Facebook? Or on Twitter?
A
lot of pixels which vie for your attention, a mirage
Where
is your freedom
Is
somewhere on the web
A
spiderweb of flashing lights, an echo filled with sounds
Where
is your freedom
Or
is it in the mall?
A
cage of glass, a multitude of men just craving satisfaction
Where
is our freedom
In
animated matter
From
dust we came, refuse the dust's reclaim
Where
is our freedom
In
pasturelands, in open plains, in fields
Of
ripe imagination, of children's games, delights
Where
is our freedom
The
beauty of the human soul
Yet
still in vain, a second but too late to feel the same
Where
is my freedom
In
writing or in thinking
But
roll those thoughts away, a slope a hundred miles the fray
Where
is my freedom
In
spirit or in body
Or
in the youth of years and still untouched by wails and fears
Where
is my freedom
In
love still dormant?
In
friendships' feather grasp, in spades of adoration's clasp
Where
is your freedom
In
hollow words? In empty gestures?
Vibrations
of the air just echoing through space
