فِي هتون صَلَواتِه يَتَمنّى الإنسانُ
الماءَ والخُبْزَ وَالهُدُوء
عَلى كلِّ شَفَا نورٍ
يَنبلِج المرةَ تلوَ المرةِ
لَكِنْ للإنسان نَوعَينِ مِنَ الملائِكَةِ
في أعماقِ نفسِه - الشّر والخيرُ
وُيمكن أن تخففَ الأرضُ وَطْأَتَهَا على الشرِ
وَتَسْتَهلِكَ كَدحَه
وَليسَ مِنْ مَفّر.

And there is no way back

for the water the bread and the quiet
on every threshold light
that is wounded again and again.
But man has two kinds of angels
inside him – the evil and the good
and the earth may ease the evil

and there is no way back.
