 a special moment
I was in Sydney having some coffee near the famous Opera House. Naturally I had a muffin along with the coffee to make my day a little sweeter. Suddenly this seagull walks over and looks at me, hoping that I'm in a sharing mood. Being all alone it struck me as quite appropriate to share my muffin with this bird. I ate a piece and would throw it a piece too. It ate quite happily and stayed for more. I remembered that Maly always wanted a tattoo of a seagull and that as it was around 3pm in Sydney it was the middle of the night in Israel I imagined that this was Maly's sleeping soul that came to keep me company. I shared my muffin with 'Maly' and the more I imagined it the more real it felt to me. Suddenly, there were more seagulls around; I guess they figured out that there was a generous soul on the pier. 'Maly' realized that her turf was being threatened. She lifted her neck and lowered her beak in an aggressive stance, started squaking loudly and ruffled her wing feathers to look bigger and more ferocious. I laughed because my Maly also speaks of defending her domain. Then, oddly, when she decided that the area was clear, she simply took off and soared towards the sea. I guess Maly must have been waking up or else going off to another dream.
Do I really believe that it was her? The scientist in me clearly doesn't, but I'm not all scientist, and the dreamer in me is quite convinced that something special happened; that for a brief time we were together on a pier in Sydney...
