I have been going so far (500 km a day north
Oh God, How far away have i gone (to paraphrase Agnon).
It was in the day after Atonement day. Well akshily, i thought it would have
been the day before Atonement day. That's how far I've gone, i didn't know when
atonement day is. Oh God how far away have I gone.
So, I decided to seek God in this place - Gälllivare (if you want more details
about this place let me know, a boring incoherent email can be sent about it as
well) in Lapland, in the Arctic circle.
Sunday, the day after Lorddag, I went to the church. At 1800 the bell ringed.
Then, the PastorRReverendinisterpriest atherwhat have you took the stage. I
could recognize him since he was wearing a black collar and a gray gackejacket
he gave the stage up very fast and then they came. a GosspGospelus of 20 fat
black women starting singing hallehallelujah, wrong, sorry, not the correct
movie. A chorus of 20+ Swedish people got to stage to sing some chamber or jazz
music. The orchestra was a quartet of three people: the electronic organ, the
contra-bass, and the piano with the orchaorchestrarMistresses, she was in
charge about the music and the singing and the rest.
So the first song was the entire chorus together. and then we had a solo of the
Swedish David D'or (those of you who dont don't David D'or look at the
eurovision song contest more closely next time!). which reminremainsr> the
average age of the people in the church was 45. Rather young, but not when you
consider that the average age of the chorus was about 30. And I guess many of
the young ladies - women in the chorus were there just because they wanted the
Swedish DAvid D'or.
Then a group of four of D'or's gropigroupies together. then they continued.
While the piano woman sings and orchestrate the entire things. At some point
the PastorReveraReverenderpriest atherwhat have you tried to take over again,
but the piano lady was just too much for the flagmatic
PastorReverandminReverendest atherwhat have you. Yea, she was, well think of
the perfect music teacher in high school, the one that arranges all the
ceremonies and do everything while singing the top of her longues at all
lounges. that how she was like. the piano women. I guess part of it was because
the ceremony itself reminded me those ceremonies from high school, a bit of
singing talking singing together etc. No wonder that at some stage i started
dozzing off. Drdozingon the Simpsons' episode when they sit in the church and
fall a sleep dreaming biblical dreams. But then i had to return to reality
since I had to go back to the other side, the Sitra Akhra (in armaic) or the
andra sidan (in Swedish).
