Drizzt Do'Urden
Outwardly calm and composed, Drizzt has a controlled anger within him, a legacy of the time he spent living in the wilds of the Underdark, where he had to survive by instinct alone. While he has mastered that side of his psychehe refers to it as "the Hunter"he can still call upon that part of his psyche when he is hard-pressed and under great emotional duress. The "Hunter" was a purely instinctual being, free of any compassion, that epitomized Drizzt's fighting prowess. When not possessed by the "Hunter," Drizzt is cool-headed, a peacemaker, and is always willing to avoid a fight if he can (except with races such as orcs, giants, yetis or goblins); however, he still will look for exceptions to the prejudice of these stereotypes. When the situation calls for it he can be incredibly daring, even reckless. He is confident to the point that several of his friends are convinced that someday the drow will leap into a situation that he will not be able to get out of. He harbors a deep love for the surface world and cherishes his place in it (he is awake at every sunrise), though many are still prejudiced against him. He cares little for the ungrounded prejudice of those who do not know him, however, saying it is their problem, not his. His usual reaction to the initial fear and surprise (but without plain aggression) is a kind and comforting smile.
Bruenor Battlehammer
Bruenor is the adoptive father of Cattie-brie and Wulfgar, King of Mithral Hall, friend to Drizzt and companion Regis, and crafter of Aegis-fang. He was run out of his home of Mithral Hall when he was just a young boy. His family took up residence in Icewind Dale close to Ten-Towns. He is strong willed and very stubborn, he cares much for his Cattie-brie.
Guenhwyvar
Guenhwyvar is very much like Drizzt. The panther accepts him as a master, but loves him as a friend. Guenhwyvar's relationship to Drizzt is unique. The panther can be summoned forth from the Astral plane up to 12 hours out of every 48 hours, though it is possible for Guenhwyvar to stay longer than the limit. If the panther is slain while on the Prime Material Plane, the panther transports back to the Astral plane, and can be called forth again after it has rested.
Jarlaxle Baenre
He has a very charismatic personality, always willing to talk his way out of situations rather than resort to force of arms. And talking is what Jarlaxle does best. His words easily work past the handicap of his race's evil reputation, able to turn potential enemies into allies. One of the most interesting things about Jarlaxle is, other than to save his life, he would prefer not to kill anyone as long as he could manipulate the person to serve his interests, even in an obscure way.
Artemis Entreri
Artemis is a professional and always has an air of control about him. Every move he makes or word he speaks is calculated to achieve a desired effect. He never allows emotions or the circumstances, no matter how dire, to master him. In this, he is completely as determined as Drizzt. He tirelessly maintains himself in top condition, and constantly seeks to improve his martial skills, again just as his drow nemesis does. Artemis also is terribly cunning, able to outthink as well as outfight his opponents. One aspect of his professionalism that is rare in a man whose business is killing is that Artemis usually never kills unless it is necessary or unless he's been hired to do so.
Zaknafein Do'Urden
Zaknafein Do'Urden, famed Weapon Master of House Daermon N'a'shezbaernon, was Drizzt's father, his mentor and his dearest friend. It was he who gave Drizzt the courage to leave Menzoberranzan. He not only trained Drizzt to become an excellent warrior, he also played a great part in shaping his personality, protecting Drizzt from the truth of Menzoberranzan for as long as he could. Zaknafein Do'Urden was an excellent warrior, the finest in Menzoberranzan, but most importantly, he was good beyond the ability of his kin. Noble, kind-hearted, and strong in his own way, he did his best to live by his principles, in a world where greed overcomes compassion and ambition overrules all. He also had a mysterious friendship with Jarlaxle.
Lloth
Lolth is a demon and a goddess worshipped by the drow; she displays formidable power and great cruelty with an affection for arachnids. Goddess of darkness, drow, evil, and spiders. Lolth has, through deceit and domination, garnered the ears of the dark elves and eventually established herself as their one true deity, keeping them under her thumb by creating a society in which only the strong survive and her priestesses are strongest.
Malice Do'Urden
Malice Do'Urden was Matron of House Do'Urden until her death. She was a strong priestess and had favor of Lolth for a long time. She is the only known user of the power of the birth against her enemies. She was the mother of Drizzt, Dinin, Nalfein, Vierna, Maya and Briza. Cruel and vicious, Malice would do anything to get revenge or please her dark goddess Lloth.
Regis Rumblebelly
Regis is barely 3 feet tall and so chubby he's earned the nickname "Rumblebelly." He enjoys nothing so much as comfortable living. He can be quite subtle and equally crafty, though he is by no means cruel in any way. He has also grown wise over the course of his many misadventures and gained an ability to see things his friends often miss. Regis abhors violence and will do his best to avoid it. However, when he must enter battle, he tries to support his allies with sneak attacks against their enemies.
Wulfgar
The physical build of Wulfgar is astounding, giving him incredible strength. He has even been known to crush a mans head with his bare hands, though it was not an easy task for him. He can be thought of as being extremely muscular, his muscles often described with the strength of cords of steel. However, its likely that he is even stronger due to the fact that he is about 7 feet tall (as are most of his kin).
Cattie-Brie Battlehammer
The adopted human daughter of Bruenor Battlehammer, Catti-brie was the first person in the Icewind Dale to accept Drizzt Do'Urden, although she was very young when Drizzt came to know her. Catti-brie possesses a stubborn and tough dwarf personality due to her foster-father.
