Tonight, my friend Isaac was sworn into the Israeli army.
I've written about this before, but it hits me a new every time.
To watch an American, a Chayal Boded, without anyone in the country
be sworn into the Israeli army is such an incredible thing.
He has dreamt about this since he was a kid, and today I was there to watch his dream come true.
It's so special to watch someone leave everything they have, everything that is known to them and jump into a world of the unknown - unknown language, unknown people, unknown culture. Especially into a world of the unknown, where you officially have no control over your time and your activities.
My friend doesnt look at it that way. He was beaming the entire time. Radiating happiness and a sense of fulfilment and achievement.
Sad that his family could not be here today to witness this moment, but hey! he had more guests than almost any israeli there. Almost 60 of our friends went today to show their support, happiness, and excitement for our friend. It was such an amazing sight.
I cannot wait to see what the next stage brings.
