I was reading an aritcle about social media - all about the differences it has created in our society and in the meaning of friendships.
With the increase in the usage of social media in our day in age, its important to ask what does it mean?
Does it have the value that the real physical friendships have? Is a friendship maintained (and perhaps even created) on social media a true friendship?
There are so many questions coming up nowadays regarding the addiction to social media and what affect it has on our physical relationships that exist in actuality.
The article I just read, I feel is a testement to the overbearing role that social media plays in our lives. The article was all about this new app for smartphones called "Split." Split is an app that has been created to help you avoid people that you dont want to see. It gathers everyones informations that they publicize over the internet and uses it to track them, and therefore if you are going out and trying to avoid someone specific, you can type in your name and it can tell you either where that person is and/or where they were seen last.
It is crazy how much social media is prevalent in our lives, so much so that it is being used to help avoid people you are 'not in the mood' to see.
