Woe be to all the genii of yore
Who died while in their thirties. Myriad scars
Are on the chest of Mnemosyne. Sore
Yet beautiful they are, and each one mars
My times of merriment; methinks, ‘What horror,
The thought of how the Gods upon the stars,
Who cruelly guide the Babylonian whore,
Seize this endearèd treasure that is ours!’
Yet my dear friends, when all is said and done,
Mean more to me than Pushkin and Macedon.
To C.G.D Wilson and Y. I. Berger.

Yesterday I had The Rocky Horror Picture Show playing when my mother came into the house with my little brother. I was washing the dishes at the time, and it was on Time Warp. My mother enjoyed seeing my little brother dancing to it.
Then Sweet Transvestite started, and I showed my mother my interpretation of Frank-N-Furter's character (as much as I could; I had to go on doing the dishes). She was amused at first, but was terrified later at the gestured that the role require. She said, half-comically terrified, ‘Can I have my son back?’
So I had to stop the soundtrack and become my usual masculine self again. I explained to her I have many sides she doesn't know, and joked about how she wouldn't like seeing my interpretations of the Mask and Alex from A Clockwork Orange. Later on she said she was afraid I’d do these gestures in public.
This made me realise something: flamboyantly gay people are being idiots. Sure, they gave us Stonewall, but that doesn't mean they’re not being idiots. In a society, one must adhere to society's rules, unless one has a true social/communication problem, e.g. Asperger’s syndrome, and in such a case one should learn the social language, and be treated with a more forgiving attitude (like an immigrant who learns the local language). Aspergers/autistic children together can ‘speak their native language’, and non-Aspergers should accept their ‘social language’. Same goes for flamboyant gays: when in public, do as the public does; in the gay clubs, be as queer as it gets. Same goes for heterosexuals. (More about this theory can be found here.)
