Commentary on current events

The current season of Big Brother in Israel has had a woman cheat on her fiancé and end her relationship on television, a man coming out of the closet, and the editor sexually harassing a contestant; none of these had had any precursors here. When looked at from this angle, it seems that either the current season is making an extraordinary effort to stay fresh, or to spark constant debates. I’d rather be optimistic and think of the latter.

I’m waiting for a revolution to take place in Jordan too. If those Ayrabs get on Israel’s case again about the ‘Palestinians’ or whatnot, Israel would be very justified in kicking out all of them to the surrounding Arab countries. Hey, those countries show their support (in said scenario), don’t they? Let them put their money where their mouths are.

Glee is back, and the first post-hiatus episode was on last Thursday. It’s good to see the level of writing (which, unlike any other aspect of that show, has been absolutely horrible since the current season started) improving so much. Bow-Boy and I discussed the big black student’s comment regarding show tunes (‘That’s the music of my oppressors’): I said it was racist, displaying the only male black character that actually gets a noteworthy amount of screen time as a violent homphobe (it actually looks like he’s the leader of a violent and homophobic clique), and the only female black character is very stereotypical (there’s also Cameo, but she just got a guest appearance and was just fanning the flames), but Bow-Boy said that Glee has made tremendous efforts to be ‘politically correct and not bigoted and my points were somewhat petty. Ah well.

The new bill banning excessive noise on public transportation will be a welcomed change. No more ‘arsim playing loud, terrible music through their mobile speakers on buses. No more people speaking from the top of their lungs to one another or on the phone. No more loud and rather inane debates between the bus driver and the occasional passenger about politics. Finally, people minding their own business and keeping quiet on the bus.

Oh, wait, that didn’t happen. Fuck your loud, competitive, aggressive culture and overall nature, Israel, and fuck you. Just... fuck you.

Another event is soon to come.

  Unum diem...

(P.S.: Before I forget, I have to write down something important that I don’t want stolen from me. It’s a law I phrased a long time ago and posted on Facebook. I call it the Shunra Law of Snufkins: ‘At any given time, there is at least one student nicknamed “Snufkin” in any given school in Israel.’ I, for one, know of at least five. VERY LATE EDIT: Blech, I noticed I’ve already mentioned this earlier.)

Also: I need to start studying Chinese properly to get a good Bagrut on it. It has very few irregularities in grammar, I already know some of it, and it’s an acknowledged Bagrut subject in Israel. I just hope it'll help me get a scholarship...)
