Always have them before I start a presentation. Before I start a training course.
I walk around in the conference room. Making sure everything is ready. But deep inside I want to be somewhere else. I look at the people. Hoping they will disappear. Hoping that the entire thing will be cancelled. Just feeling like I don’t want to start it all.
And then the time arrives.
“Good morning Gentlemen.. My name is…” and that’s it. Everything starts to flow. Words are forming by themselves. They are coming one after the other, as I lead them through the world of our product. I love the way people respond. Ask questions. Showing interest. I’m not afraid from questions anymore. I know the material. And I am not afraid to admit that I don’t know everything. I can always check and come back with the answer.
And so the day goes by. My students learn. So do I.
Then it’s quitting time. Shut everything down. Go back to my room. Take off the tie. The shirt. Feel comfortable.
Another day is over.
But next time I will have a presentation, the butterflies will be there…..
