Mussurie Hey Rishikesh was great expirience so I stayed there for 10 days, done yoga almost every day, and had done some good hikes in the hills around town. I arrived rishikesh and took a shared texi to a place called laxmanjula on the north side of the city, on the east bank of the holy river Ganga. just waking up every morning and look from my window on the wide tourqise coloured river was feeling my heart with joy. I walked up every morning in 6:30 and went to a yoga class, 20 minets walk from my hotel. classes were good, and many flexible japanese girls who had rubber joints. I walked up to 2 temples in the mountains and enjoyed the walk in the hilly forests, zooming with monkeys and cows, in the fresh air. bewside, the cows in laxmanjula and ramjula are behavig like dogs. they see you eat an apple and just come to you with theire big nose extended in to you, mooing for food. sometimes, you just have to turn theire big head sidways. after doing all the activities I wanted, like yoga festival, live music of traditional Indian playing tools like sitar, tabla atc, mantra chanting, ashram visit, bathing and sun tanning in the beach of the ganga, and observing 2 puga seramonies at the sunset on the river adge, I had only one thing to do- rafting. and great coincident on this spiritual town- the yoga capital of the world- I met while hiking in a valley 2 guys, german and american, and they actually wanted to go rafting. we had a great rafting! nice rapids, splashes of water, boat jump in the air a few times...wild fun! but then, it is time to go... I took a bus to dera doon, the capital of uttranachal and escape in 10 minuts via a bus to Mussurie. dera doon looks like a waist of time for a traveller. busy town with no spacial tings to offer. mussurie on the other hand... high on the mountains, and with great looks to the high himalaya ranges (only for one day since the days followed had mist covering the sky). the town is a hill station- built by the british during theire reign in India to escape from the summer heat in to the chilly air of the mountains. the main street looks like a piece of england (eg shimla, dargeeling) and further up there is a atmospheric village called Landour. the landour market is very colourfull and if you are brave enaugh, you can go (like I did) further up to the lengeuge school up the hill and to a nice and tiny market called sisters bazzar. from there I went to a hill because I like the woods and the mountain. I took along with me an American woman from Indian origin named sangeeta, and it was a great hike. it always more nice when sombody join along. the second activity I did is to walk to the tibetian sattlment "happy valley" and hitch hike on a back of a truck to kempty falla (13 km away). the falls were fantastic! water running from the mountains and falling in great malice in to apool. I took the cable car to the falls and enjoy the springles of water. the way back was hard. I took 3 rides. 2 in scooters and one in a car to cover the 13 km distance to mussurie. now, Im planning to go from the tourist cityalthough they have great tibetan food, great blackforest cakes! cheese pastries, chocolad moos, icecream, creamy cakes, and the big price:" death by chocolad". I will try it out tonight.
