It appears to be that the most common answer should be: "because he\she looks cool" But surely Super Girl with her retarted belly-button-showing-red-go-go-boots outfit nor Wonder Woman with her Im-miss-america-look-like-a-flag-huge-ass-50's panties, are obviously no match for the young and dark Batgirl, or shall i say Bad Girl. now Robin is gay, and we all know he dies to get it in the ass from some real man like Cat woman.

and i will not even ask why this fatish-spendex-van-damm-like love to wearing underwear over pants of superman have domenated the DC comic for almost 40 years.
i will just put it down as the:
"Unconceous effect of the superheroes on the geek's mind, and why they feel related to them"
it have started in the 50's in that time there was not much choice between the supeman or the madman or the Russian-soldiers-in-space-mad-psychodelic-blood-gore-horror comic heroes. but the charachters have developed not due to the depth of their writers, but due to the cocial-economic state of the world, and when i say world i mean:AMERICA!!!!!!!!

the superman charachter have developed as well. So what do we know about superman??? hes a man (perverted fashion freak), and he's an alien, who is a natural born superpowered and his ounly weakness is some kind of rock that the percentage for it to get on earth is as good as the chances of the existance of ManBearPig. Yet it happens. Superman is the choice of all the true Hippie noob who exists, the one who his sworn enemy is Lex Luthor, AKA- a Capitalist Superman does not belives in giving up, he does not belives in races, and he always gives a second chance.... Just like a good old hippie, superman does not understands the world economics and the need of working for money and not so u will have a secret identity. and just as a hippie, he belives that phisical apperance does not matters to people, not as the inside world ANW, and thats why, he blindly belives that as soon as he will put the 0+/- Glasses on, he is a different man. the ounly thing that saves him is the fact that he is not much of a hip in conversations so clearly no one realy gives shit about the lame and borring clark kent, who is obviously the same lame and borring superman, just with less glasses and more superpowers. the problem with his love life is his secret, just as a lame hippie, he belives that his main dream/aim at life is to make this world a better place, and sence by world he means:AMERICA!!!!!!!! he works harder than life to maintain the not legal but for a good cause, battle with the evil capitalist who is obvious the worm in the apple.
he obviously cannot commit to anything else due to a fear drom changing prioreties and more, due to the fact that as a freedom fighter he must be free.
he must never have real love, and literally R-E-A-L love (nor anything)
the truth is that blaming the succesfull is a very hippie way of saying: im worthy too, but i dont even get laid. so in the way of doing somehing about it he prefers to fight the capitalism while blindly beliving that in the communist world, they share females too... now if he would ever look out of the shell he would understand that Louis lane knows that he's superman, but damn it, what kind of woman will date a fag that acts like Al Gore and dresses worst then prince.
same way with the hippies, if they would ever shower or at least use deodorant, surely they will meet some nice blind girl, who woud not see the pubic-hair-like beards they have on the face, cause it is obvious that the world does not contains enough blind, deaf and lacking senseof smell 13-17years old girls for the amount of hippies existing.
