I realise again that I should write a post about 'Poetic Licence'.
Last time I had an issue with poetic licence, I saw the word godelet, which is the juvenile / low society grammatically incorrect singular feminine present tense conjugation of the verb gadal, to grow (the correct form is gdela), in a poem of Altermann's, in The Seventh Column. I was shocked that Altermann lowered himself to such poor grammar for the sake of a simple rhyme, and I was told that I 'redefine the word "petty"' when I said my idol had failed me, until I found out it was grammatically acceptible at the time. Natan Zakh once said that Altermann sacrificed his poems' content for rhyme and metre, and he is still an idiot for saying so: Altermann usually did the opposite.
Today I went to Tsomet Sfarim and spoke to the people who were there about the commercial I'd mentioned on my last post. They said the grammatical error was fine, because the pun was good. I disagreed, and so did Yotam Berger (on the replies).
I may sound ridiculously conservative, but I am against the so-called 'Poetic Licence'. I think that if one bend reality to say something about it (and I mean bend reality, not fantasy, in which consistency is still necessary) or corrupt the language to use its beauty, one does a ridiculous folly. That is why I think Shakespeare shouldn't have titled Henry the VIII, Julius Cæsar, &c. as 'histories'. The title is very misleading.
Oh, and when Rakhel 'the Poet [sic]' Bluwstein wrote 'pi sheva'' (seven times [comparative adjective]) instead of 'pi shiv'a' (which means she used a feminine number with pi, '[number] times [comparative adjective]', which requires a masculine number), and when Alexandre Penn wrote 'gamal vegamelet' (a he-camel and a she-camel) instead of 'gamal vena'aka' (which means he used the incorrect quasi-declension of gamal, camel, instead of the special feminine for 'camel', na'aka), it showed nothing but ignorance about the language no respectable poet should have. Oh wait, they're respected poets, not respectable poets.
I'm expecting a huge commosion (and a huge commission...) on the replies.

(P.S.: I came to the conclusion that in a way, this blog is some sort of a 'Mask' to me. Then again, I'm not afraid to speak my mind IRL as well...)
